Under the Boeing Sukanya STEM Lab initiative in collaboration with the Learning Links Foundation, a team of six students from Grades 7 and 8 conducted a field interaction with local fruit and vegetable vendors to gather practical feedback on their Smart Weighing & Billing System project.
During the visit, the students interacted with vendors to better understand the challenges faced in day-to-day market operations, including transparency in weighing, digital payment methods, and customer service. The vendors appreciated the students’ innovative efforts and shared valuable suggestions to help improve the system and make it more user-friendly.
The activity provided students with real-world exposure and encouraged them to think critically about how technology can address community needs. It also helped them develop communication, observation, and problem-solving skills while understanding the importance of innovation for social good.
The experience was both educational and inspiring, demonstrating how STEM learning can empower young minds to create practical solutions that benefit society and support local businesses.
