Swacchhata Hi Seva Hai (SHS) campaign 2019 was launched by the Honorable Prime Minister on 11th September which aims to reinforce sanitation as everyone’s business and is focused on plastic waste management and its key theme.
The Sulabh family played a significant role to contribute in the noble cause and spread this cause to a larger mass. Students were asked to bring plastic bottles & other first used plastic wares from their homes and later the bottles were collected in a huge amount and were sent for their proper disposal. Students were divided in 4 teams comprising of 50 students each and were accompanied by teachers to various places like nearby Metro Station, Palika Bazaar (CP), Hanuman Mandir (CP), Lodhi Garden etc.
What added beauty to the campaign was the spirit and zeal with which the students and the teachers participated. Beautiful charts and props were used to make the procession more eye candy. People carrying plastic bags were given cloth handbags to make them realize the significance of jute and cotton bags and how unconsciously they were harming nature.
The campaign was proceeded by presenting a huge 8 feet tall effigy of single use plastic whose repulsive face reminded us of all the ugliness of plastic on the beautiful mother earth.
Hence, the campaign was a huge success.
